Just curious, but 39 billion divided by 5.3 million comes out to 7358. The story says "just $12.9" ($12.90 ?) per child.......let's see...7358 minus 12.9 .......that's A LOT of extra money left over. I wonder how it is put to use ....or more cynically, who profits?

I'm not saying saving lives from pneumonia isn't worth it....it is! But this math is just not working.

NB: Perhaps they mean a 12.90 investment for every child in developing countries?......in order to have a net "save" of 5.3 million children......

From the World Health Organization Reducing child deaths from pneumonia press release.
The cost of implementing the GAPP by scaling up the recommended measures in the 68 high burden countries is estimated at US$ 39 billion for 2010-2015. The costs are expected to double over the six-year period, rising from an annual need of US$ 3.8 billion in 2010 to US$ 8.0 billion by 2015.
